The 4th International Conference on Phosphonate Chemistry, Science and Technology (ICOPHOS-4) will take place from 2 to 4 of October 2023 at Ibis Styles Central Hotel, in the city of Heraklion, in the island of Crete, Greece. The web site of the conference is up and running: https://4icophos.com.
ICOPHOS-4 is organized by the members of the Crystal Engineering, Growth & Design Laboratory (Department of Chemistry, University of Crete), and it is under the auspices of the University of Crete.
It continues the tradition of three previous meetings, usually moving around Europe. Since the series’ inception in 2018, it aims to present, discuss, share and disseminate recent advances in phosphonate and phosphinate chemistry, thus promoting significant discoveries in science and technology.
The main thematic areas include:
Synthesis of phosphonic acids and phosphonates
Polymeric phosphonates and phosphonate-grafted polymers
Synthetic aspects of metal phosphonate coordination polymers and MOFs
Advanced characterization techniques in metal phosphonate chemistry
Gas absorption and storage
Catalysis
Proton conductivity and related energy applications
Composites containing phosphonates (eg. with Nafion) for energy applications
Metallic corrosion inhibition in water treatment
Mineral scale inhibition in water systems
Absorption of toxic substances/water purification
Uses of phosphonates as drugs (eg. for osteoporosis)
Controlled drug release and drug delivery systems
Medicinal applications of phosphonates
Surface modification by phosphonic acids
