Services to Society, Industry, and Academia

Our expertise in the area of metal and metalloid analysis, in addition to state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation available at the Department of Chemistry, University of Crete, allows us to offer such advanced services to society, the industrial sector located in Crete (plastics and foods), as well as the rest of Greece and Europe, as well as researchers from around the world. Some of the services we offer include:

* Ultratrace determination of metals in a wide range of liquid and solid samples, using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Sample preparation for such analysis includes using the microwave digestion technique and/or various extraction techniques.

* Elemental speciation analysis (arsenic speciation in fish and foods, mercury speciation in marine organisms and foods, Cr(III) and Cr(VI) speciation, antimony speciation in liquid samples) using hyphenated high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled on-line with ICP-MS.
