EuroMOF25
(21 – 24 September 2025)
The 6th European Conference on Metal Organic Frameworks
The 6th European Conference on Metal Organic Frameworks and Porous Polymers (EuroMOF2025) took place in Heraklion, Crete, from September 21–24, 2025 — just days after the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Professors Omar M. Yaghi and Susumu Kitagawa for their pioneering work on MOFs.
This historic recognition added a unique sense of excitement and celebration to the event, underscoring the profound global impact of research in this field. EuroMOF2025 brought together world-leading scientists, emerging researchers, and industry innovators to discuss the latest advances and future directions of MOF and porous material science. With inspiring Plenary, Keynote, and Invited lectures, thematic sessions spanning from synthesis to industrial applications, and a vibrant Young Investigator Symposium, the conference highlighted both scientific excellence and the collaborative spirit driving this rapidly evolving discipline.
Supported by the Greek MOF Chemistry community, EuroMOF2025 served as a milestone event celebrating innovation, diversity, and the collective achievement of a field that has transformed modern chemistry. Find more about the conference here.
3C Summer School vol. 2
(30 June – 4 July 2025)

Volume 2 of the Computational Chemistry Crete (3C) Summer School
The 3C Summer School vol.2 was held with great success at the Chemistry department, welcoming 20 enthusiastic students for a week dedicated to Chemistry, Computation, and Communication.
The program combined lectures, hands-on sessions, and inspiring talks on the intersection of academia, industry, and startups. Participants had the opportunity to engage with leading researchers, deepen their theoretical understanding, and apply new concepts through practical exercises.
The week concluded with a certificate ceremony, distribution of exclusive 3C t-shirts, and a lively conference dinner that celebrated the achievements and collaborative spirit of the participants. The event once again highlighted the 3C initiative’s mission to foster innovation, creativity, and interdisciplinary learning among young scientists.

MEDPore23
(17 – 19 May 2023)
First Mediterranean Conference on Porous Materials
Our lab successfully organized the first Mediterranean Conference on Porous Materials, held in 2023 in Rethymno, Crete. The conference brought together researchers from around the world working on a broad range of porous materials, including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs), zeolites, porous chalcogenides, carbons, polymers, and organic molecules.
The event featured a rich program of keynote lectures, oral presentations, and poster sessions, providing a dynamic platform for scientists to share their latest findings and exchange ideas. More than 200 participants attended from countries such as Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, the USA, and China. The conference welcomed both leading experts and early-career researchers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere.
Attendees had the opportunity to stay abreast of cutting-edge research, present their work, and actively engage with the international porous materials community in a vibrant and inspiring setting.

3C Summer School vol. 1
(15 – 28 July 2019)

Volume 1 of the Computational Chemistry Crete (3C) Summer School
The inaugural Computational Chemistry Crete Summer School was held in 2019, welcoming four enthusiastic undergraduate students from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Crete. The program featured courses in ab-initio and classical mechanics, led by Professor George Froudakis, Dr. Emmanuel Tyllianakis, and Dr. Taxiarchis Stergiannakos. The outcomes of the summer school were particularly fruitful, contributing to the successful completion of three Bachelor’s theses and culminating in a peer-reviewed publication in Molecules (MDPI).
