School Visits

Post and under graduate students visit high schools all over Crete, introduce themselves, briefly explain the training required to become a chemist, and discuss career in chemistry. They can also give a 20-minute visual presentation on different aspects of chemistry and the relevance to everyday life.

For primary school students, chemistry hands-on laboratory sessions have been designed. These workshops can be accommodated in 1-2 class periods. Pupils, guided by post and undergraduate students, perform simple chemistry experiments based on every day materials. No special facilities are required, all supplies are provided by COG, and there is no charge for the program!

All visits close with a demonstration section of chemical reactions selected on their visual appeal or their relevance to everyday life.
