Welcome to the website of Prof. Pantelis N. Trikalitis

We are engaged in research in the field of materials chemistry focusing on the design, synthesis and structural characterization of new materials and characterization of their physical and chemical properties. Our research strategies utilize a bottom-up approach to construct novel materials from well defined molecular building blocks (see Research page). In particular, we target novel, multifunctional open-framework solids that combine porosity and advanced wall functionality (acid-base, redox and optoelectronic properties). Our group has a significant know-how and knowledge on materials synthesis using methods for solution, sol-gel and solid-state chemistry including hydrothermal, solvothermal and high temperature reactions. Characterization techniques including powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis (TGA/DSC/DTA), volumetric gas-sorption analysis, Raman and IR spectroscopy, Scanning and Transmission electron microscopy (SEM/EDS, TEM), are routinely utilized.
