Ανάπτυξη καινοτόμων νανοδομών για την αποτελεσματική φωτοκαταλυτική διάσπαση νερού προς παραγωγή υδρογόνου

Solar water splitting is a multidisciplinary problem which needs to be solved through cross-disciplinary integration. Researchers from chemistry, engineering, materials, physics and other fields need to work together to meet major scientific challenges in the process of solar photochemical conversion. If successful, humans will be able to use this method continuously in the future to obtain the energy they need. Therefore, an experimental and theoretical study on this technology in cooperation with outstanding international groups from China in related fields is a unique opportunity to promote this important field while collaboration with an international industrial partner (Linde) will demonstrate the feasibility for an industrial up-take. Project partners, University of Crete, and FORTH Greece, have a long history of energy and materials research. Cooperation with relevant scientists in the field of energy materials science from China may provide the grounds for a multidisciplinary cross-cutting breakthrough on hydrogen production through solar water splitting and complement each other’s expertise by a joint push forward in this very important research field.
