Countless fun!
The inaugural Computational Chemistry Crete Summer School was held in 2018, welcoming four enthusiastic undergraduate students from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Crete. The program featured courses in ab-initio and classical mechanics, led by Professor George Froudakis, Dr. Emmanuel Tyllianakis, and Dr. Taxiarchis Stergiannakos. The outcomes of the summer school were particularly fruitful, contributing to the successful completion of three Bachelor’s theses and culminating in a peer-reviewed publication in Molecules (MDPI).
MEDPore23
Our lab successfully organized the first Mediterranean Conference on Porous Materials, held in 2023 in Rethymno, Crete. The conference brought together researchers from around the world working on a broad range of porous materials, including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs), zeolites, porous chalcogenides, carbons, polymers, and organic molecules.
The event featured a rich program of keynote lectures, oral presentations, and poster sessions, providing a dynamic platform for scientists to share their latest findings and exchange ideas. More than 200 participants attended from countries such as Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, the USA, and China. The conference welcomed both leading experts and early-career researchers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere.
Attendees had the opportunity to stay abreast of cutting-edge research, present their work, and actively engage with the international porous materials community in a vibrant and inspiring setting.
