SUMMARY:[DEADLINE] Assignment 1. Scientific Conference Presentation of a Chemistry Research Article
DESCRIPTION:Weight: 15% (You need to choose only one assignment, but you can do more if you choose to).
Assignment Overview
In this assignment students will deliver a 12-minute scientific conference presentation based on a peer-reviewed Chemistry research article provided in the course materials.
The purpose of this assignment is to develop students’ ability to:
interpret and critically understand scientific research
communicate scientific knowledge clearly in academic English
use disciplinary vocabulary in chemistry
design professional conference slides
present and discuss research findings in a scholarly context
Students should imagine that they are presenting their work at an international scientific conference.
Available Papers for Presentation
Students must choose one of the following papers available in the course documents:
C–H Activation in Organic Chemistry
Validity and Reliability of Scientific Data
Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling
Stormwater Pollution and Anthropogenic Particles
Plastic Waste Recycling
Bioplastics and Sustainable Materials
These topics reflect current challenges in chemistry and environmental science, including sustainability, materials science, and scientific data reliability.
Presentation Requirements
Students must:
carefully read and analyse the selected research article
prepare PowerPoint slides suitable for a scientific conference presentation
deliver a 12-minute presentation
answer questions from the audience
Students should explain the study rather than simply summarise the article.

SUMMARY:[DEADLINE] Assignment 2. Scientific Laboratory Report with AI
DESCRIPTION:Assignment 2. Scientific Laboratory Report with AI
Weight: 15%

Purpose of the Assignment
This assignment examines how students construct a scientific laboratory report with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

Experimental Context: The lab report is based on the experiment you worked on in a previous lab.

Structure of the Assignment:

PART A. Pre-AI Scientific Interpretation (Completed in Class)
This stage has already been completed during class. You analysed the experimental data independently without AI tools and wrote a structured interpretation including:
purpose and hypothesis
description of results
identification of anomalies
interpretation of results
tentative conclusion

This stage is compulsory but not graded. Its purpose is to capture your initial disciplinary reasoning before interacting with AI tools. If you haven’t completed PART A you cannot submit PART B.
Before you DO anything read HOW you are going to be marked here

SUMMARY:[DEADLINE] Assignment 3. Creative Project: Board GAME on Acids and Bases
DESCRIPTION:Assignment 3. Creative Project
Design and Creation of a Board Game on Acids and Bases
Weight: 20%

Assignment Overview
In this assignment students will design and create a non-digital board game that teaches key scientific concepts related to acids and bases. The aim of the project is to combine scientific understanding, communication of chemistry concepts, creative design & educational reasoning. Students must design a game that helps players learn or practice important chemistry ideas, such as pH scale, acid–base reactions, neutralisation, strong vs weak acids and bases, indicators and pH measurement, and/or everyday applications of acids and bases. The game must be scientifically accurate, educationally meaningful, and playable.

Learning Objectives
Through this project students will develop the ability to:
communicate chemistry concepts in accessible ways
translate scientific knowledge into educational tools
design structured learning experiences
reflect critically on the process of explaining scientific ideas

Project Components
The assignment consists of three required components. READ MORE HERE.
