introduction

The X-ray diffractometer is a STOE IPDS* image plate apparatus for single crystals.

*A coolling system at liquid Nitrogen temperature will be ordered very soon.

Welcome to our web place!

... the site of the x-ray facility of our department is now available. We hope than you will find it easy to use and useful. !!!!!

The basic instrument-facility started to operate before Christmas of 2006. The help of Prof. N. Mihalopoulos and T. Kitsopoulos for the financial support (as chairmen of the Chemistry Department) from the University of Crete as well the Region of Crete, was definitive. Prof A. G. Coutsolelos was the contact person for the specs as well as for the installation of the STOE apparatus at the new Chemistry building. In August 2008 the low temperature at liquid nitrogen unit has been installed, thanks to the Region of Crete. The X-Ray Facility is located at the University of Crete, Chemistry Dept, Room A-102, Voutes Campus • Phone: (0030) 2810545071, 2810545045.

Our facility provides the instrument and the expertise for collecting and processing x-ray diffraction data from macromolecular single crystals. It is under supervision the of the x-ray crystallography community and is available to all the research groups inside the campus. The purpose and the provided information are more educative than pure crystallographic (continuously updated) and essentially will be used for reservations and contact as well as educational source for graduate students.
